Late Pile

For the list that got away from you

Late PileA catch-up plan for overdue tasks.

Paste the tasks that slipped past their due dates. The page works out how late each one is and fits them into the time you really have over the next few days. One run decides each task - do it on which day, hand it off, or ask first whether it is needed - and writes the first step or the message to send.

3 Your catch-up plan

One run decides every late task: do it on which day (with a first step), hand it to the person its line names (with a message), or ask whether it is needed when its notes say it may not be (with a question to send). The page re-checks every day against your time.

            How it works

Each line is read for a task name, one due date, an optional time and an optional urgent mark; with pipes, the parts after the name can come in any order and anything else is kept as notes. A task is late when its due date is before "today"; tasks not due yet, or with no date, are listed but left out of the plan.

The plain plan takes urgent tasks first, then the latest, and puts each on the first working day with room for its minutes. A task longer than a whole day gets an empty day to itself. Whatever finds no day waits for later.

The run makes the same kind of plan with judgement: it can group tasks for the same person, hand off a task whose line names someone who offered to take it, and ask before spending time on one whose notes say it may no longer be needed. It never tells you to drop anything.
